CH CH CH CHANGES

The weather is changing faster than anything I remember here, due to Hurricane Trudy. Some of the beaches we love are now inundated and damaged, while we here in central Mexico are experiencing unexpected amounts of rain, wind, and winter weather. In October! But also, sufficient sunshine so we know we're in San Miguel. 

El clima está cambiando más rápido de lo que recuerdo haber visto aquí, a causa del huracán Trudy. Algunas de las playas que tanto nos gustan han quedado inundadas y dañadas; mientras tanto, aquí en el centro de México, estamos experimentando cantidades inesperadas de lluvia, viento y condiciones propias del invierno. ¡En pleno octubre! Pero, afortunadamente, también hay suficiente sol como para recordarnos que estamos en San Miguel.

              

One big change for me personally, is the name of my gallery. From La Huipilista, to Lena Bartula Artspace+Gallery. It feels just right. Changing the name on social media, Google Maps, business cards, etc. has its challenges. Poco a poco!                              

Un gran cambio para mí personalmente es el nombre de mi galería. De La Huipilista, a Lena Bartula Artspace+Galería. Se siente perfecto. Cambiar el nombre en las redes sociales, Google Maps, tarjetas de presentación, etc. tiene sus desafíos. Poco a poco. 

CASA ELENA, A ROOM OF HER OWN, is already reserved for January, February, and the first half of March 2027. However, the most beautiful month in San Miguel still has availability here. 

If you've never been here for Christmas I can assure you it's is even more magical than any other time. Special rates for 2 weeks, or 3, if you don't want the full month. And speaking of changes, there will be no rate change in 2027! 

CASA ELENA, «una habitación propia», ya está reservada para enero, febrero y la primera quincena de marzo de 2027. Sin embargo, todavía hay disponibilidad para el mes más hermoso en San Miguel.Si nunca has estado aquí durante la Navidad, te aseguro que es aún más mágica que en cualquier otra época.Tarifas especiales para 2 o 3 semanas, si no deseas el mes completo. Y, hablando de cambios, ¡no habrá modificaciones en las tarifas durante 2027!

One thing that has not changed is Palestine. The genocide is ongoing, even through what is facetiously called a ceasefire. We at YoTeVeo SMA continue to keep our eyes open, demonstrate, and stitch to raise funds for our friends and families in Gaza. Rain or shine! 

Algo que no ha cambiado es Palestina. El genocidio continúa, incluso durante lo que, irónicamente, se denomina «alto el fuego». En YoTeVeo SMA, seguimos con los ojos bien abiertos: nos manifestamos y realizamos labores de costura para recaudar fondos destinados a nuestros amigos y familias en Gaza. ¡Llueva o haga sol!

And this exciting news!! I'll be returning to Mexico City for an invitational exhibition, "GRACIAS" opening Nov. 21 at Museo de Arte Popular. The work they'll be showing is "R.love.UCION" just in time for the anniversary of La Revolución." It's a piece I created in 2010 for the Bicentenario. Now, in 2026,  revolution is in the air in so many parts of the world. I'm happy this work is going out into the public. It's featured in my book, Whispers in the Thread published in 2019. ¡Y una noticia emocionante! Regresaré a la Ciudad de México para una exposición por invitación titulada «GRACIAS», que se inaugurará el 21 de noviembre en el Museo de Arte Popular. La obra que se exhibirá es «R.love.UCION», justo a tiempo para el aniversario de la Revolución. Es una pieza que creé en 2010 para el Bicentenario.
