RED POPPIES

As our next event for a free Palestine draws near, I'm thinking about the red poppy that we've used in our new Loteria deck. The "we" is a collaborative project of  San Miguel por Palestina and Yo Te Veo SMA. Living and working in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, we chose the Loteria as way to bring Mexicans and foreigners together in solidarity with and support for Palestine.This very original deck features images of their land, people, and culture, while the names are in Spanish. Included is Amapola — Poppy.

            

 A symbol of resilience, this flower combines the colors of their flag. Its red petals represent bloodshed and sacrifice in the quest for liberation and sovereignty.

A medida que se acerca nuestro próximo evento por una Palestina libre, estoy pensando en la amapola roja que hemos usado en nuestra nueva baraja de lotería. El "nosotros" es un proyecto colaborativo de San Miguel por Palestina y Yo Te Veo SMA. Vivimos y trabajamos en San Miguel de Allende, México, y elegimos la lotería como una forma de unir a mexicanos y extranjeros en solidaridad y apoyo a Palestina. Esta baraja muy original presenta imágenes de su tierra, su gente y su cultura, mientras que los nombres están en español. Se incluye Amapola, el "Poppy".

Un símbolo de resiliencia, esta flor combina los colores de la bandera palestina. Sus pétalos rojos representan el derramamiento de sangre y el sacrificio en la búsqueda de la liberación y la soberanía.

Have you ever played Loteria? I haven't, but I've always wanted to. San Miguel por Palestina has created a new deck for a special occasion, a fundraiser happening on March 12. Details on the posters, and a sneak peak at a few of the loteria cards we'll be using. We hope you'll join us for some special prizes, yummy food, and creative solidarity.

 ¿Alguna vez has jugado a la lotería? Yo no, pero siempre he querido hacerlo. San Miguel por Palestina ha creado una nueva baraja para una ocasión especial, una recaudación de fondos que se llevará a cabo el 12 de marzo. Detalles sobre los carteles y un adelanto de algunas de las cartas de lotería que usaremos. Esperamos que nos acompañes para disfrutar de premios especiales, comida deliciosa y solidaridad creativa.

We invite you to join us on March 12 for La Loteria, where we'll also have raffle tickets available. Prizes are incredible, and you have many chances to win.
