Those of you who read my last blog, which was February (where did the time go?) know that I initiated a collaborative project to support Palestine. Now, the first piece in the project, the YO TE VEO huipil, makes it's debut in everyone's favorite Mexico City museum. 

A RUNNING THREAD,

 my solo exhibition at Museo de Arte Popular, opens May 29. Along with a dozen artworks that show the continuity of my textile work since the alternative huipil series began, it is the inaugural presentation of the YO TE VEO huipil that is the superstar of this event. Many of you who follow me have stitched and embroidered eyes for this project, or have contributed in other ways, and I am grateful and proud to stand alongside you in spirit or in person, in solidarity for justice in Palestine. The inaugural reception is at 7pm on Wednesday, May 29. If you can't make it to that, perhaps you'll find a way to see the exhibition before it closes on August 4. There is a catalog being printed, and will be for sale by the time the exhibition opens. 

 

Aquellos de ustedes que leyeron mi último blog, que fue en febrero (¿dónde se fue el tiempo?) saben que inicié un proyecto colaborativo para apoyar a Palestina. Ahora, la primera pieza del proyecto, el huipil YO TE VEO, hace su debut en el museo favorito de todos en la Ciudad de México.

EL HILO QUE CORRE,

  mi exposición individual en el Museo de Arte Popular, se inaugura el 29 de mayo. Junta con una docena de obras de arte que muestran la continuidad de mi trabajo textil desde que comenzó la serie de huipiles alternativos, es la presentación inaugural del huipil YO TE VEO que es la superestrella de esta evento. Muchos de ustedes que me siguen han cosido y bordado ojos para este proyecto, y estoy agradecida y orgullosa de estar junta a todos ustedes, en espíritu o en persona, en solidaridad por la justicia en Palestina. La recepción inaugural será el miércoles 29 de mayo a las 19 horas. Si no puede asistir, tal vez encuentre una manera de ver la exposición antes de que cierre el 4 de agosto. Se está imprimiendo un catálogo que estará a la venta cuando se inaugure la exposición.

In other exhibition news, Kim Malcolm at Aurora Books, invited me to show some of my smaller works on her walls during the summer. We installed 5 textile works this week, and we both love how they look alongside her fantastic selection of English language books. She also sells my book, Whispers in the Thread, in case you don't yet have your copy. Stop by for a visit when you can, it's in the Hacienda la Aurora, just south of the bridge on Calzada de la Aurora. 

En otras noticias sobre exposiciones, Kim Malcolm de Aurora Books me invitó a mostrar algunas de mis obras más pequeñas en sus paredes durante el verano. Instalamos 5 obras textiles esta semana y a ambos nos encanta cómo quedan junto con su fantástica selección de libros en inglés. También vende mi libro Whispers in the Thread, en caso de que aún no tengas tu copia. Visítelo cuando pueda, está en la Hacienda la Aurora, justo al sur del puente de la Calzada de la Aurora.

Another place in San Miguel that my work can be found is at Galeria Intersección, in the Fabrica Aurora. They carry my small stitched collages, dubbed by Marge Failoni as my "little jewels." Each is 4x6" in a 5x7" mat, ready for framing, and I just delivered new ones yesterday. Intersección is a contemporary gallery with ever-revolving and evolving exhibitions. 

Otro lugar en San Miguel donde se puede encontrar mi obra es en la Galería Intersección, en la Fábrica Aurora. Llevan mis pequeños collages bordados, apodados por Marge Failoni como mis "pequeñas joyas". Cada uno mide 10x15cm en un MariaLuisa de 13x18 cm, listo para enmarcar, y ayer entregué unos nuevos. Intersección es una galería contemporánea con exposiciones en constante renovación y evolución.
