USING USED MONEY TO MAKE MONEY

It's difficult to keep up with shifting curriencies when one travels frequently. I remember traveling in Mexico in the early 1990s, before the peso devaluation in which the zeros were dropped and everyone was confused for a while. The next trip, we were all using both currencies.Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, 1000 peso bill

A decade later, I was in France before the shift to the Euro, and unknowingly brought home a stack of francs. Those, I did not get to spend on my next trip. franc Claude Debussy

These bills and more made their way into a large textile piece titled "Banco Mundial" or "World Bank" featuring other international paper currencies.

World Bank, paper currencies stitched on cotton, gold and silver metallic thread.

Made of used money, this work is now available to make money for a good cause. The best news is that it can be yours at the auction this weekend, in support of Patronato Pro Niños. But you’ll probably want to split your time between the party in the lobby and the events on stage, where there will be live performances by two different musical groups – and a raffle that you are eligible to win just for buying your ticket!

5:00 – 6:00 PM – This is when the Live Auction, itself, takes place and you’ll be able to bid on and win the fabulous 15 Live Auction items we have for you this year!  The scope of these items ranges from wonderful works of art to fabulous parties to interesting trips and experiences.  And we are sure that you’ll find one or more that you’ll want for yourself!

6:00 – 8:00 PM – After the auction, there will be more raffles you could win and more live musical performances in the theatre.  And in the lobby, you’ll be served a traditional Fourth of July meal that includes Hamburgers, Onion Rings, Apple Pie, Brownies, and of course, drinks galore!
